The Mission of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant SPRC
The Staff-Parish Relations Committee relates to all staff, both bishop-appointed staff and our employed staff. It is the administrative unit in a local church where staff and congregational interests are integrated to focus on the mission of the church. We have the same functions of a Personnel or Human Resources department in other organizations. There are some legal and risk management issues for which the SPRC has responsibility.
The SPRC members serve as guides, teachers, mentors, managers of conflict, and interpreters of ministry both to the staff and the congregation of which they are a part. The SPRC operates under God's leadership in the tension between staff and congregational interests, which includes dealing with both the celebrations and disappointments inherent in any human family and church.
