The Evangelism Council

Evangelism is, at its heart, sharing faith with others, particularly with those who are unchurched or disconnected, and inviting them to follow Jesus Christ as Christian disciples.

It takes a congregation to make a disciple and we do this through:

Developing a congregational lifestyle and an atmosphere that is welcoming, inviting, encouraging and empowering.
Attentiveness to God and to faith development of every person in the congregation.
Trust, generational and ethnic inclusiveness, hospitality, and a positive self-image.
Church leaders who embody and equip the congregation, and
A vision to serve the community beyond the walls of the church.

Specifically, the Evangelism Council has as its mission to:

Provide church information to visitors at the time of their first church visit and, later, during a brief home visit by members of the council or other church volunteers.
Improve the congregation’s awareness of visitors and insure their reception and assimilation into the church family.
Develop long-term growth plans for the church to accommodate a larger congregation.
Increase community awareness of UMC Covenant through local media and directional signs.
